My Week in Ashtanga Yoga (4.2.18-4.8.18)

This week was actually slightly less horrible than the last few weeks. I was able to complete my full practice Tuesday-Friday, followed by the loveliest led Primary series on Saturday.

I also attended a standing Acrobatic dance lift workshop on Sunday, which was such a delight! I got to learn from Acro James, who is a badass acro-yogi based in LA but is currently traveling around the globe teaching these workshops. I also had the opportunity to work with one of my Ashtangi/acro friends, Andy, whose heart is pure gold. He was kind, gentle, and encouraging. I’m not sure I would have been brave enough to try some of the skills we learned if it had not been for his encouragement.

Moving forward, I’ve set the intention to be extremely easy on myself for the next few weeks, at least in my yoga practice. As I finish up my graduate studies and prepare for the huge transition that I’m about to experience, I need to focus on grounding myself through my practice. In a few months, I have no idea where I’ll be working, living, or practicing yoga. It is easy for me to feel slightly overwhelmed by all of this uncertainty, but I am trying to stay positive by focusing on all of the wonderful possibilities.

I’m learning a lot about forgiving, trusting, and being able to open up despite the fact that it’s scary AF. More next week. xx, Hope
